Hollywood(s) will be done by our therapists today
The Hollywood wax appeals mostly to women who want to feel that little bit more confident, particularly in a bikini.

What Is It?
For those who dare to bare, the Hollywood wax removes absolutely everything. From front to back you'll be as smooth as a dolphin!

Albeit slightly more eye watering, it's over in as little time it takes for our managers to down a Cosmo at the end of a busy week!!

Does It Hurt?
Almost every single woman comes out of our treatment room saying "Wow, that wasn't so bad, I was expecting way worse!". We are very well trained to minimise the pain as much as possible, it's all in the technique you know!

The technique that is widely used today was first invented by the BWC directors almost 10 years ago now. We carried out many trials and surveys until we settled on our final methods.

We learn't that proper support of the skin avoids injury and extra pain. The way in which the strip is removed, from the speed, to the angle, is what cuts the pain level down. We know everyone would rather have it over with quickly and finally, no one likes to be on all fours with their bum in the air.

Our technique has become the most favored and most copied technique for intimate waxing over the years and our central focus has been to reduce the level of your discomfort during the treatment.

What Wax Is Used?
We also discovered during our tests that the wax plays the ultimate role in how comfortable or uncomfortable the wax will be. Some waxes are downright dangerous. Others are terribly slow. We use, and will only ever use our Organic Wax. It is kind to your skin and keeps you safe during the treatment.

Transgender-
If you would like to book in for the womens treatments, that's not a problem we won't charge you anymore. If you could just give us a call on 02081234332 to let us know so we can ensure we have the correct time slot for your treatment.

Things to consider BEFORE a Hollywood Wax

1) Unfortunately we cannot wax near the abdomen area i.e abdomen, Bikini, Brazilian or Hollywood area, if you are in your first trimester of pregnancy as this is the most critical time for your baby as your little embryo tries to establish. You are absolutely safe to wax these areas from your second trimester right up until your due date.

2) We cannot wax anyone who has been on a sunbed within 24 hours or if you are sunburnt.

3) Exfoliate the area before your appointment. It will help to lift out ingrown hairs and get you a smoother result.

4) Don't remove any hair from the area for at least 2 weeks before your first wax for best results. The hair needs to be the right length for the wax to 'grab' onto. If you can pinch the hair it is long enough.

Things to consider AFTER a Hollywood Wax

1) You must not use a sunbed or sun bathe for 48 hours after a wax.

2) Redness in the area is normal and will subside within a few days.

3) Wait for any redness to fade then exfoliate everyday in the shower to avoid in growing hairs.

4) Hair grows on a 28 day cycle so we recommend getting waxed every 4 weeks. The more you wax the longer it takes to grow back again :)

5) Never shave between waxing! It makes your hair grow back thicker, makes your wax more painful, your hairs more stubborn and un-does the benefit of your wax.

Do you use strip wax or hot wax? Thanks
Eve | Manchester
1/11/2017 5:28:25 PM
BWC reply to queries
Hi Eve We use an organic wax which acts as a hot wax so it shrinks away from the skin and only grips the hairs however we use a strip purely for speed.

In the past after Hollywood waxing I ended up with white pimples that look really bad. What can I do prior to the treatment to avoid this from happening?
Catheine | Manchester
6/23/2016 8:24:37 PM
BWC reply to queries
Hey Catherine I would suggest taking a cool shower with no products afterwards and wearing fresh clothing to avoid the white pimples. They usually occur because after a wax, the follicles are left open and daily bacteria and perspiration can block them. 48 hours after a wax, we advise the start gentle exfoliation to maintain a smooth result. Hope this helps!

Hi Jasmine It usually takes about 4 weeks for your hair to grow back. However it is worth bearing in mind that everybody is different and some may find their hair grows back quicker than others and vice versa. Hope this helps!

Does the wax work on removing extremely coarse pubic hair? Is the pain a lot worse if hair is very coarse too?
Lyndsey | Manchester
5/12/2016 5:42:02 PM
BWC reply to queries
Hi Lyndsey Our wax works on all hair types and is particularly effective at removing coarse hair. Removing coarse can cause some discomfort however our therapists are very highly skilled at reducing the level of discomfort and carrying out the treatment promptly.

I know it says not to use a sunbed for 48 hours after a wax.. Is this still the case even if you were to keep underwear on on the sunbed?
Zoe | Manchester

Hi Zoe Yes the same rule applies as it is the heat that is left in your skin that can cause a problem.

I've recently had laproscopic surgery and have a small incision site on my pubic bone. How long until I can have another wax ?
H | Manchester
4/17/2016 9:40:10 PM
BWC reply to queries
Hello You can be waxed straight away so long as you're not in any discomfort around the area of the incision and we will also just avoid that area for 6 months whilst it fully heals. We usually leave about an inch gap surrounding any new scar tissue.

Hi, I'd love to get a wax but I'm vegan. I just wondered if the wax contained any animal products, such as honey? Many thanks, x
Maya | Manchester
4/14/2016 8:40:16 PM
BWC reply to queries
Hi Maya Our waxes do not contain honey however they both contain beeswax. Our after wax lotion also contains lanolin but some of our other vegan clients choose to not have this applied. I hope this helps, if you have any other questions please don't hesitate to ask.

Do we definitely need an adult IN the room with me whilst I get my wax? I don't feel comfortable with a parent sat with me haha. Is it not possible for them to sit outside?
Leah | Manchester
2/20/2016 10:49:11 PM
BWC reply to queries
Hi Leah. Unfortunately if you are under 16 we would require a parent/guardian to be present in the treatment room. It ensures a safe environment for the therapist and yourself. We can give them a juicy magazine to read to keep them occupied if you like :)

Hi Mya Whilst I agree the Lycon wax brand is a popular choice for most salons, we decided to have our own specific brand of wax manufactured in order to ensure nothing but the most gentle ingredients were used. We feel our wax is the most effective and I encourage you to come in and try for yourself. I hope this information helps

Hi, I had a Hollywood done this afternoon (my first one) and it stills feels quite stubbly at the top? Is this normal and can I remove the little bit of stubble with shaving/hair removal cream? Thanks, Katy.
Katie Morgan | Manchester
7/31/2015 6:05:01 PM
BWC reply to queries
Hi Katie Usually new waxers find that they are left with a few small hairs after their treatment due to the hairs not all being at the same stage. This happens when you change your method of hair removal. It can sometimes take 2 or 3 regular waxes to achieve a perfectly smooth result. I would advise against removing the remaining hairs yourself and encourage you to wait until your next treatment so you can have them waxed off. I hope this helps x

Ray | Manchester
7/17/2015 1:06:33 AM
BWC reply to queries
Hi Ray We usually advise our clients to leave the hair to grow for a minimum of 2 weeks after shaving. We can wax before this time however we would not be able to promise a great result. X

Would you say it'd be ok to take some painkillers or use BareEase numbing cream beforehand or would that interfere with the treatment? :)
Chloe | Manchester
9/20/2014 10:53:04 AM
BWC reply to queries
It's absolutely fine to take pain killers before a treatment it's something quite a lot of our clients tend to do if they're a bit nervous! We recommend not to use numbing creams as they can create a barrier between the skin and the wax meaning it won't stick and remove the hair as well and it can also stop you from feeling the true temperate of the wax.
Ella | Brazilian Waxing Company Staff

Hi. Do you do sugar waxing?
Natalie | Manchester
7/24/2014 10:12:04 PM

We don't offer sugar waxing as we've found it struggles to remove a lot of the hair. We use our signature gold wax as we've found in various tests it offers the best result.

Is it possible to request a specific therapist, although we can not guarantee that you will definitely be placed with the therapist of your choice on the day of your appointment. We understand that you do feel comfortable with a familiar face and we will do everything to try and accommodate this, although certain circumstances occur such as illness. This is why when booking your appointment the receptionist will remind you that is it not always guaranteed.

I cannot recommend BWC highly enough. I had real confidence/anxiety issues before I came in for a Hollywood because it had been yeeeears since I had a wax, but the second I was in the room (baring all!!) with my therapist I felt totally at ease. She had such a brilliant balance between friendliness and professionalism and I'll definitely get back into regular waxing from now on (tut tut, shame on me for leaving it so long in the first place!!) :D
